This palette contains a representation of 7 different emotions. When the palette is being used as a tool for choosing the child is able to select any of the emotions from the palette simply by clicking on it. This causes the chosen expression to appear on the face of the individual represented in the accompanying scene. When it is used as as indicator, a pointing hand is drawn underneath the palette as a guide to the emotion currently of interest.
A feature has been added to the package where the emotional palette can be modified to reduce the number of different expressions on show. This is of particular use if the child has difficulty labelling the various expressions - for example it would be possible to set the package to use only the happy and sad faces.
